Group Volunteers of the Year

The Starr County Farm Bureau has been named Group Volunteer of the Year for the 2022 Starr County Fair. The organization has been involved with the Starr County Youth Fair and the Starr County Fair Association since their beginning. The organization, with its motto “The Voice of Agriculture,” supports the Fair as a major sponsor.

They have always had a booth with agricultural exhibits such as a mini cotton gin or sponsored youth contests, such as the Barrel Painting Contest to promote Food Connection Week. Currently, they help sponsor the Ag Product Identification Contest of the Fair as their Food Connection Week project.

The county organization is served by a board, made up of the following members: Doug Anderson, president; Omar Montemayor, vice-president; Tissa Peterson, secretary; Vidal Saenz, treasurer; Omar J. Garza, Deborah McGuffin-Gonzalez, Ronnie Alaniz, Gilberto Perez III, Juan Garcia, and Jorge Alvarez.

The Starr County Farm Bureau is very honored to be recognized as Group Volunteer of the Year by the Starr County Fair Association.
